Tue, May 15th 2012 4:27p   David Leedy
Contrats to the authors!!! I’ve heard that this book is being delivered now from IBM press. It’s not on amazon just yet but it IS available via Apple’s iBooks store. At least in the US. I’ve looked at the rough draft of this on Safari Books online, but just look at the list of authors to know that this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! More on a future NotesIn9! In this show I show you how to install the OpenNTF Import/Export project into designer and import and use a custom control. Most of this information has already been covered by Niklas Heidloff on the OpenNTF Blog – blog.openNTF.org and I’ve included some relavent links below. LotusLearns steals community content and future of NotesIn9 on YouTube.
Sat, Apr 21st 2012 6:11a   David Leedy
By now most people know that lotuslearns.com – no I won’t link to it – is copying blog posts under the misguided banner that they are somehow saving the people of Africa bandwidth. While I painfully remember the days of modems, I just don’t see how that’s possible as the the site contains things like graphics and ads… It even has a score of “C” if you use YSLOW. NotesIn9: 064 Global Custom Controls (Fixed)
Wed, Apr 4th 2012 6:07a   David Leedy
In this show Tim Tripcony comes back on the show with an amazing demonstration on how to take an existing custom control and make it globally available to all the applications on your server. I’ve had many conversations with Tim, and he’s so far ahead of the game I’m usually pretty happy if I understand 50% of what he’s trying to say. But in this demo, which is a more advanced topic I was able to really grasp what was going on. Hope you like the show! [read] Keywords: applications server

About last night…
Mon, Apr 2nd 2012 10:12a   David Leedy
I figured I’d blog this just to make it easier to tell the story.. So last night my family and I went over to by brothers for dinner. Near the end of the evening I ended up twisting my ankle pretty bad. This sent a jolt through me which made me dizzy and nauseous. After sitting for a couple minutes I decided to head over to the kitchen to get a little water. I remember cupping my hands under the sick to get water. Next thing I knew I was on the floor. Today, for my “50th” show I get to welcome another new contibutor to the show. Tue, May 24th 2011 1:46a   David Leedy
Did you know that openNTF is running an XPages Development Contest? 3 iPads have been sponsored by We4IT. Already many custom controls have been submitted for free use in any applications. In this show we take a look at one of these custom controls. Mark Hughes from hugesconnect.com comes on the show to discuss his custom control creation – a very powerful View Picker. NotesIn9 026: Collapsing and Expanding Views in XPages
Fri, May 6th 2011 2:39p   David Leedy
Here’s a quick little show that I threw together last night. Was talking to someone who had a question on how to do a Collapse All/Expand All for a view control and it turns out to be WAY more difficult then it should. I’ll maintain there are better UI constructs to do this but he wanted to stick with a view control. So here goes. Company might leave Notes App Dev (but not email) due to lack of developers.
Tue, May 3rd 2011 6:49a   David Leedy
I received a sad phone call yesterday. My former company is considering abandoning the Notes/domino platform for Application development due to the inability to find a Notes/Domino Developer. They would keep Notes for Email as they’re very happy with Notes overall. But not having a resource available to continue to enhance the applications is becoming a big problem. They have iSeries (AS/400) developers on staff and I guess are considering moving app dev to PHP on the iSeries. NotesIn9 news and celebration!
Sun, May 1st 2011 6:50p   David Leedy
I’ve been running dark for a little bit so I just thought I’d give a couple of updates regarding NotesIn9. First – April was the best month ever for total Views and Downloads! Absolutely amazing. I don’t take the download/view stats too seriously as that’s just not the point of NotesIn9. But I do keep an eye on them as that at least gives me a hint of the interest level. The overall numbers completely blew my previous record month out of the water. So it does seem l [read] Keywords: notes xpages development

Sometimes IBM just Rocks!
Fri, Apr 8th 2011 3:29p   David Leedy
I just wanted to take a minute to say how absolutely impressed I am with IBM about a couple of things. First, and this was covered in detail on The XCast podcast, but they really did a great job of responding to the community regarding the XPages forum. We asked… ok for some of us, myself included, I think “demanded” would be the more appropriate word. And they delivered. They’re not finished with that but they moved very quickly on working with the community in an unprec [read] Keywords: ibm lotusphere notes xpages community podcast

I got this in my email, but as much as I like, I can’t really advice this person as I myself don’t know that much about integrating XPages and a relational database, which I assume Postgres is. So I thought I’d through this out to see of anyone had any thoughts on this. =============== Dear David, I am very new to Lotus notes 8.5.2 and I am trying to learn programming in lotus notes Xpages. NotesIn9 025: Selecting Documents from a Repeat Control
Fri, Apr 1st 2011 7:11a   David Leedy
When you use a view control there is a simple action for working with selected documents. In SSJS there is a method, getSelectedIDs (or something like that), that let’s you get a handle on any selected documents. However neither of these solutions exist for documents inside a Repeat Control. In this show l will demonstrate how have a repeat control and get a handle on any documents that the user selects. Thu, Mar 24th 2011 7:51a   David Leedy
This is a special show that I started last night to basically respond to a couple of blog posts from Jake Howlett at codestore.net. Post 1 Post 2 I believe that XPages is RAD. I pretty much did the building in 3:45 give or take a second or two. A little while ago I was looking at my MacBook Pro, which is a 15 inch 1680×1050 Anti-Glare with a 500GB 7200 Hard drive and got the itch to tweak it out a little bit. I really wanted to try an SSD drive which I’ve heard so much about….. I just wanted to jump in on the blog posts today about Domino Designer for the Mac.
