Sneak Peak: XPages.info Next
Tue, Feb 21st 2012 6:09p   Bruce Elgort
Over the next few weeks OpenNTF will be rolling out a new look and feel for the XPages.info site. As you can see from the preview below we are using the latest OneUI theme and the site also matches the look and feel of the XSnippets.info site. We are also working with Giuseppe Grasso of DominoPoint on a new skin for the main OpenNTF.org site that closely matches XSnippets and XPages.info. Oh and we also have another new community site which we will be announcing soon. Think IBM Connections. [read] Keywords: connections ibm xpages community email openntf

Third OpenNTF XPages Development Contest
Tue, Feb 21st 2012 1:33a   Niklas Heidloff
OpenNTF had two successful XPages development contests last year. For the third contest we've changed a couple of things: First of all the prizes were doubled. Developers can win now prizes with a total of $4800. We did this since this time we also ask for full applications and we understand that it's more work to implement them. Thanks a lot to our sponsor We4IT. This time we decided to give out monetary prizes. Git, Mercurial and Redmine on OpenNTF?
Mon, Feb 20th 2012 1:13a   Niklas Heidloff
We are thinking about significant changes to the OpenNTF.Org web site, both in terms of UI and functionality. One goal is to provide version control systems on OpenNTF. Right now projects with multiple owners can use SVN repositories on OpenNTF. We'd like to extend this and also offer Git and Mercurial repositories for all projects. Another goal is to update the project management UI. In this context Declan Lynch has promoted Redmine for a long time. On OpenNTF: XPages Debug Toolbar
Thu, Feb 16th 2012 1:21a   Niklas Heidloff
Mark Leusink has contributed a great utility for XPages developers - XPages Debug Toolbar. It allows XPages developers to log messages that are then displayed in a browser window. Additionally it displays properties from the different scopes and allows inspecting the page. The project demonstrates community power since it extends a project from Tommy Valand and Keith Strickland also helped with logging from Java. Easy Setup of SVN in Domino Designer via one Update Site
Thu, Feb 16th 2012 12:31a   Niklas Heidloff
Several people reported that the original install instructions to set up SVN in Designer didn't longer work since the location of some of the required (older) plugins had moved. Christian Guedemann corrected the instructions on StackOverflow. Yesterday he contributed a new project to OpenNTF which contains one update site with all required plugins. Use StackOverflow for XPages Questions
Thu, Feb 2nd 2012 12:11a   Niklas Heidloff
There have been discussions in the community recently how to reach out to new developers and to leverage other communities and web sites. In this context StackOverflow came up. StackOverflow is a programming Q & A site that’s free. Free to ask questions, free to answer questions, free to read and free to index. How to build your own XPages Extension Libraries
Wed, Jan 25th 2012 2:09a   Niklas Heidloff
I blogged some time ago about different types of XPages developers. One type of developers are Java developers who use the Eclipse IDE to build their own extension libraries which can be deployed as OSGi bundles globally to Domino servers. While this is not as easy as building apps and controls with Designer it provides more capabilities and allows easy usage in multiple databases. These custom libraries use the XPages Extensibility API. I provided some time ago simple samples sho [read] Keywords: domino expeditor ldd lotus ntf xpages development eclipse java openntf
